Beautiful image, the delicate hint of light on the ice really makes this one stand out. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!

Thanks Alan! That touch of gold on the ice is a reflection of a sunlit cliff, an extra bonus provided by those big granite walls in Yosemite Valley.

Thanks Andrew! It's nice to hear these comments about this image, as it's one that I've always liked, but I haven't included in any gallery exhibitions. Maybe I'll put it in the next one.

    Michael,

I just returned a few days ago from my latest trip to Yosemite. I had never been to Yosemite until this year. I have gone 3 times and experienced 3 distantly different seasons for photography (Spring, Fall, and Winter). Your photography is certainly one of my inspirations for finally going.

On this image, it made me laugh, because when I was taking photos at Yosemite last week, I would always look on the river for sections of slush or ice . In my opinion, just a little patch of it makes a winter river scene much more appealing, just like snow covering all the branches of a tree. Snow and fog is my favorite Yosemite condition, so far.

Happy New Year, from another Frey (okay, the e and y are transposed, but sounds the same).

    ~Charlie

Thank you Aspen and Charles for your comments. Yes, ice does add something! Not sure why exactly, but it does.
