I just returned a few days ago from my latest trip to Yosemite. I had never been to Yosemite until this year. I have gone 3 times and experienced 3 distantly different seasons for photography (Spring, Fall, and Winter). Your photography is certainly one of my inspirations for finally going.
On this image, it made me laugh, because when I was taking photos at Yosemite last week, I would always look on the river for sections of slush or ice . In my opinion, just a little patch of it makes a winter river scene much more appealing, just like snow covering all the branches of a tree. Snow and fog is my favorite Yosemite condition, so far.

Thanks Alan! That touch of gold on the ice is a reflection of a sunlit cliff, an extra bonus provided by those big granite walls in Yosemite Valley.
