This image was made along the roadless section of the Merced River outside of Yosemite and west of Briceburg. Walking back from the North Fork of the Merced one afternoon I noticed this beautiful geometric pattern in the metamorphic rocks across the river. The sun had just gone down behind a hill, leaving perfect soft sidelight to bring out the texture and form of the rocks. A slow shutter speed blurred the water and provided a silky texture to contrast with the angular landforms.
