Del Norte redwoods is rather optimum for sun and rays. I caught a really nice view entering Jedediah Smith some weeks back, but that was the spruce area entering from the west side.
If fog hits the hill, I noticed that early morning up the new Berry Glen trail at Redwood National Park is rather spectacular too.

Thanks for the tip about the Berry Glen trail. Yes, Del Norte is right along the coast, so more fog-prone than a lot of other redwood groves.
